What happens after I contact you?
You will receive a reply within 48 hours (unless I am out of the office). We will arrange to have a 10-15 minute consultation on the telephone to decide together if assessment with peace of mind psychology is right for you and if now is the right time for you to be accessing therapy

What happens during the telephone consultation?
You will be asked to briefly outline the difficulties and goals for change you have. It is an opportunity for us to see if we may be able to work together, and to clarify whether things are stable enough in life at present to undertake exploratory work or whether at this time something to support and help you manage the turbulence would be more suitable. We can then arrange an appointment and if you consent, you will be sent some questionnaires to complete and a copy of the working agreement to read over prior to the assessment session.

How confidential will the content of sessions be?
Your information is confidential and will be kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998). Supervision is a requirement for all psychologists to ensure that the highest standards of professional and ethical practice are adhered to. Anonymised details of therapy are discussed with the therapist's clinical supervisor; the supervisor is also bound by professional confidentiality and will be unaware of your identity.
The exception to confidentiality: all clinicians in the UK have a duty of care. If there is a reason to believe that you or others are at risk of harm, information about this must be shared with the relevant professional(s) such as your GP. I will endeavour to discuss this with you before sharing any information with other professionals. For more information please see the privacy statement
